Friends, I have finally emerged from the black hole that has been work + vacations and I’m back in the blog-post game. On that note, where the heck have the past two weeks gone?! They say nothing is certain in life but death and taxes, but I’d like to add “time disappearing faster than George Clooney from a monogamous relationship” to that list of certainties.
So, about that “2014 bucket list” I mentioned a few weeks back? Well, we can cross a Montana road trip off the list! BAM. Mission accomplished, and boy, was it a good time (minus the 18+ round-trip hours of driving time, but in all honesty, they wasn’t too bad either).
What brought me to the snow-capped mountains of Whitefish, Montana, you might ask? Whelp, I was on a mission to spend nearly 5 days with the gorgeous lady you see in the ‘sneak peek’ photographs below (okay the first photo might not be our best look but it pretty much sums up our friendship in a single frame, so I had to include it).
Casady and I first met when we were both working at a photography company in the college town of Pullman, Washington, and it was a friendship-love at first sight. Confession, I actually remember crying in the bathroom office the day she moved back to Montana, which really should have been her first clue that she wouldn’t be able to get rid of me so easily (muah ha ha). Two years, a few jobs and a handful of relocations later, Casady and I are still wonderful friends despite the miles and miles of country highways and farmland between us. In a few months that distance is only going to get bigger, but I am so freaking excited for Casady that I can’t even be sad for myself.
Casady, using all the spunk and spontaneity that I love about her, is moving to NEW ZEALAND this October. New..Freaking..Zealand.
You know those people who talk about living life to the fullest but who are, in reality, too scared to actually DO anything about it? The people who say they would travel if only they could find the money or if only they could find the time, or any of the multitude of other excuses we use to justify what’s actually holding us back. You won’t find one ounce of that type of person in Casady. Forget the secret adventures we all dream about but are actually too hesitant or scared to ever pursue—she is taking the little voice we all keep buried inside ourselves that quietly begs and longs for adventure and is handing it a freaking microphone. And I honestly couldn’t be prouder. Or more envious.
To add a cherry on top of the ice cream sundae that is this lady, she is also the owner and creator behind Homefish Knits – if you follow my Instagram, you’ve seen me rocking her creations on more than one occasion. Naturally, I was thrilled when she asked if we could take some fresh pictures of her hat/scarf collections, and I was even MORE excited when she offered to pay me in new hand-knitted goodies. My bad hair days and “OMG-I-DON’T-KNOW-WHAT-TO-WEAR” moments don’t stand a chance.
I love this stuff so much, I actually won’t mind if spring stays away for a bit longer, just so I have an excuse to wear alllll my new infinity scarves and hats. Keep your paws of my new gear, but don’t forget to order your own while we still have Casady in the US of A. Six months and counting!
